Hooligans Attack INEC Meeting as PDP, APC Supporters Clash in Tai, Ogoniland

Some unknown hooligans on Monday attacked a stakeholders meeting organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Tai Local Government Area causing great panic over the safety of INEC election materials which may have been brought to the venue of the meeting.

Reports reaching us indicates that apart from dispelling the gathering, the pandemonium created by the attack could have endangered some of the materials with which the INEC team have attended the meeting.

Similarly, supporters of the ruling party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) have clashed in Sakpenwa, headquarter of Tal Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Ogoninews investigations reveal that the crises has started after the campaign of the senatorial candidate of the PDP, Hon Olaka Nwogo ended in Tai. The report has it that the supporters clashed after both sides started pulling down the campaign materials of opposing parties. Six persons were reported wounded in the incident.

The PDP and APC have been involved in heated contest in Rivers State over who takes over the leadership of the oil producing state in South-South Nigeria.
