Ogoni Youths Berate National Assembly Over Boko Haram Bill

The National Youth Council of Ogoni People, NYCOP, has criticized the National Assembly for entertaining a bill seeking to grant amnesty to insurgents as well as reward and rehabilitate the terrorists. President of NYCOP Theophilus Mbagha said the bill encouraged youths to take up arms and engage in criminality.
Mbagha said the National Assembly in considering the bill was doing a great disservice to the nation and working to destroy the country.

He said the bill should be discouraged as it was an express invitation to Nigerian youths to take up arms against the state and engage in organized crimes to win and enjoy government patronage and rehabilitation.

Mbagha said Boko Haram has killed over 50,000 Nigerians and does not deserve to be compensated by the government.

He regretted that hardworking Nigerian youths were not getting any attention while those who take up arms and engage in crimes were supported encouraged with jobs, payments and rehabilitation.

Mbagha said, the bill to rehabilitate Boko Haram fighters was a disservice to the nation and should not have come from our lawmakers.
