The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) is appalled by the sad news of an assassination attempt on Dr. Innocent Barikor, the running mate to the gubernatorial flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.

While we await the report of police investigations into the attack, we are deeply saddened and strongly condemn a return to the dark days of political violence and killings ahead of the 2023 elections.
We charge the police to conduct a thorough investigation and will hope the report of the investigation is made public.
We urge citizens to be more vigilant and report suspicious activities to the security agencies.
MOSOP will decide on what further steps should be taken in due course.
