HYPREP Has Failed – Group
One could vehemently say that the National Coordinator of HYPREP Mrs. Joy Nunieh-Okunnu duped the Ogoni people and others who had donated toward the upkeep of HYPREP operations. This assertion stems from the fact that the agency set up by the Nigerian federal government to clean up Ogoni environment has not in anyway done what it was set up to do despite the huge amount of money and properties collected from donors for the purpose of keeping the agency afloat.
Presently, the agency is dead, and if not buried, it’s in the mortuary waiting for its funeral. And it’s absurd to read what Joy said the agency has done or is doing in Ogoniland. There’s the inclination that Joy, through her agency, has duped some Ogoni sympathizers and other outsiders whom might have donated to her agent in the name of cleaning up Ogoniland.
Read below what Joy said her HYPREP is doing. Lemixmedia would award any Ogoni person who could come up with prove that there exists in Ogoniland a revegetation of mangroves done by HYPREP under the coordination of Joy Okunnu.
National Coordinator of HYPREP, Mrs. Joy Nunieh-Okunnu writes:
Congratulations for being part of this process of making history as we pioneer the restoration of all communities impacted by hydrocarbon pollution in Nigeria.
For the first time in the over 50 year history of oil and gas exploration activities in Nigeria, a Federal Minister of Petroleum Resources is giving a human face to hydrocarbon (Petroleum) business.
The Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resuurces, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke (CON) is transforming the petroleum sector and has indeed made history as the first federal minister of petroleum resources in Nigeria to set up an environmental unit in the Ministry.
The Honourable Minister has put together a team of highly qualified Nigerian experts and professionals who have been acknowledged to be the No. 1 team of experts put together in Nigeria.
The HYPREP project is the first of it’s kind as it is a total restoration project which includes public health of the people, their socio-economic development, awareness campaigns, land and shoreline clean up, remediation and restoration in accordance with international best practise. The HYPREP revegetation of the mangroves programme is indeed the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. (Where is the mangroves revegetation in Ogonilan?)
We thank our very experienced and supportive Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke (CON), who has used her vast experience in the oil and gas sector to pioneer this project. We thank God for your conviction and guidance. We also thank our “high priest” as we call him, the Permanent Secretary for the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Abdulkadir Musa (mni ), who has constantly guided and encouraged us as we pioneer this special projects.
