Some unidentified gunmen yesterday abducted Mr. Freddie Ndigbara, an aide to Governor Chibuike Amaechi in his community in Khana Local Government Area.
Freddie, who is a staff of Government House, Port Harcourt; anchors programmes for the Governor, and other top government functionaries, had travelled to Kaani Ward 6, his community for a rally when he was seized by the gunmen.
An eyewitness said that the hoodlums, who were heavily armed, arrived the venue in a Toyota Highlander Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), and quickly went for Freddie, who is also a journalist.
He was said to be busy supervising the setting up of sound systems for the event. The Rivers State police command, which confirmed the abduction, said that efforts were on to track the abductors and ensure the unconditional release of Ndigbara.
The command’s spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), added that he has confirmed the incident.
The eyewitness also said that they took him to another car, which they used in whisking him out of the area.
Speaking on the incident, Mr. Blessing Wikina, a former Chief Press Secretary (CPS), to Amaechi, alleged that the kidnappers were suspected PDP thugs
