Chief Ndigbara Advocates Constitution Of Special Security Network to Fight Kidnapping, Cultism
Following the spate of kidnapping and cultism in parts of Ogoni, a renowned Peace Ambassador in the area, Chief Solomon Ndigbara has called on the Chiefs, Paramount Rulers, Elders, Politicians and other Stakeholders in Gokana, Khana, Eleme and Tai LGAs to join efforts in fighting the seeming upsurge of such criminal activities.
Describing it as borrowed practice and alien in Ogoni, the former Chief Security Officer in Khana LGA wondered why Ogoni youths who were noted to be hardworking and industrious are today indulging in cheap and disgraceful actions that rather than helping to project the area positively, have further dragged the name of the land and the people aground.
Chief Ndigbara, while recounting the regrettable damages these criminal activities of some few selfish and unenlightened youths and their collaborators have caused to the just and globally applauded peaceful and legitimate struggle for justice championed by the revered Ken Saro-Wiwa, through MOSOP, expressed bitterness that most of the perpetrators now see criminalities as their only means of survival.
He recalled how he initiated and added great impetus to a security network in Ogoni right from the formative years of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), particularly during the time of the late Ken Saro-Wiwa. This lofty initiative, he said, today needs to be revived and sustained.
Chief Ndigbara, who is also referred to as the Ogoni Provost Marshall, emphasized that Peace and Security remain determinants of any meaningful development and should therefore be embraced by all Ogonis, young and old.
The Ogoni Leader also expressed approval and satisfaction with the noble steps taken by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike in the area of security and peace building, which have received the nod of the State House of Assembly.
He noted that the various efforts of Gov. Wike, with the support of the State Assembly, in curbing criminalities and social menace in the State have yielded results in Ogoni and other parts of the State, commending the Governor for not leaving any stone unturned in his quest to rid the State of criminals.
While declaring his total support for Gov. Wike in making Rivers State safe, secured and peaceful, the result of which will be total development, Chief Ndigbara urged the security agencies, particularly the State Commissioner of Police to put in place a process in checking, exposing and curtaining the activities of criminals in the State.
The Peace and Security Ambassador believed that if a Special System and process is coordinated and controlled by the police authorities, the current criminal trend will be a thing of the past.
He assured that if such security apparatus is put in place in the State, he will ensure that Ogoni youths, paramount rulers, elders and chiefs cooperate with the process and the fight against cultism and kidnapping will be successful.
Meanwhile, the Menesirabarabateera I of Ogoni nation, Chief Solomon Ndigbara, has congratulated all concerned Ogoni youths and chairmen of Gokana and Khana LGAs, who joined efforts that brought about the rescue of the kidnapped Bursar of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnics, Bori, recently assuring that a Peace and Security Committee is underway and when in place, it would, with the collaboration of the government security outfits, sensitize the people and sanitize Ogoni communities.
He expressed joy that the recent kidnap case in the area was tackled promptly, praying that God should reward all those that made the rescue possible.
