Nigeria’s rising oil output is now under threat as a self-acclaimed militant group in the Niger Delta known as Creek Reform Warriors, has threatened to resume attacks on critical oil platforms and major facilities in the region.
The group particularly threatened to attack all major facilities operated by the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, over alleged unjust sacking of some workers in Forcados terminal.
Leader of Creek Reform Warriors, Generale Igbokuro Tinowei, in a statement sighted by SweetCrude Reports in Port Harcourt, demanded the unconditional reinstatement of all workers from Ogulagha and Odimodi communities, who he said were sacked unjustly by SPDC in 2019.
Tinowei claimed that SPDC had promised to recall the sacked workers immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic, but serially defaulted; while warning the management of SPDC to reinstate the said workers within two weeks or face dire consequences of sustained brutal attack.
He assured that the group has what it takes to cripple the production activities of the oil giant, and further urged Shell to recall and reinstate all the workers sacked in Forcados Terminal, as well as open new windows for employment of all the qualified indigenes of oil producing communities in their localities.
The group further called on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prevail on SPDC management to reinstate the sacked workers, as the consequence of their attacks on Shell facilities will impact negatively on the Federal Government’s oil production quota and the struggling economy.
The statement read in parts, “If these workers from Ogulagha and Odimodi communities are not called, all SPDC operations in the Niger Delta including their pipelines will be shut down, this is going to be a do or die.
“We are not joking. We are a deadly and dangerous group in the Niger Delta region. We have a team of specialists in different fields of the world. Our struggle is for the liberation of our people from the unemployment in the hands of Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) and other International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the region.
“We can boldly tell the world that all preparations and plans are on ground to bring down the Nigerian crude oil production to zero percent and this will continue until the IOCs employ our people, there will be no going back,” the group said.
