The attention of The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has been drawn to a false and misleading publication in The Vanguard Newspaper reporting an alliance between MOSOP and MASSOB to foist the Biafran agitation. The Vanguard reports has it that one Goodluck Freeman led the MOSOP delegation to a meeting with MASSOB leaders in Gokana in Ogoni where the deal was struck to work together to actualize the Biafran state.
MOSOP wishes to state this story is baseless, a misrepresentation of our idelas and purpose, completely false and that we have no Goodluck Freeman in our membership and will call on the Vanguard Newspaper to double-check their facts as this story is false and bears no relationship with the wishes and aspirations of the Ogoni people and MOSOP. We frown at this level of misrepresentation from a very reputable media house like the Vanguard Newspaper and demand that this publication be retracted immediately.
We urge the general public to discountenance the story and call on the Vanguard Newspaper to to be more objective in their reporting in order not to misinform her readers.
