Gininwa Lacks Power to Swear-in MOSOP President – King Nzidee
A one-time commissioner in Rivers State and former Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers who is also the Gbenemene of Nyo-Khana Kingdom in Ogoniland, King Williams Nzidee has said the Gbenemene of Tai, King Godwin Gininwa lacks the power to swear-in a MOSOP President. King Nzidee made this known today in a chat with news men in Port Harcourt.
King Nzidee who spoke to Rythm 93.7 fm and monitored in Port Harcourt said traditional rulers have no business with the inauguration a MOSOP President.
To buttress his point, King Nzidee asked if former MOSOP presidents including Dr G.B. Leton, Ken Saro-Wiwa and Ledum Mitee were sworn-in by traditional rulers. The Nyokhana king further questioned if the current MOSOP president was sworn-in by a traditional ruler during his first term. He said that there cannot be any inauguration of a MOSOP president by a traditional ruler nor can there be such a meeting of traditional rulers in Ogoni without him.
Nzidee said the only recognized president of MOSOP is Legborsi Saro Pyagbara.
Recall that King Gininwa had on Monday sworn in one Mike Lube-Nwidobie as MOSOP President. Nwidobie contested the last MOSOP election and lost to incumbent president by 51 votes. He however, backed by some politicians and King Ginnwa, declared himself winner some 24hours later.
